Happiness, or rather peace and joy is something that comes from within. Something that is influenced by our thought life, the way we think.  Negative and irrational thoughts are self-defeating and confidence killers. Our perspective, the way we think and view the world affects our feelings.   As Aaron Beck, father of Cognitive Therapy states, "It is not bad things happening to us, but it is our interpretation of them that makes all the difference.” Comments such as "Just get over it" or "You're being so dramatic" are not helpful, because a person has to work through and process their thoughts and feelings before they can move past them. Therapy allows individuals to feel heard and understood in a safe environment, so that they can then gain insight and the tools to learn how to cope with various challenges, difficult  life circumstances, and unfortunate events.
